Belarus needs to return “to his native shores” following the example of Russia-occupied Crimea. On 1 August, the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky said at the event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of his political activities, according to “RIA Novosti”.
This development Zhirinovsky believes “the best option”.
LDPR leader also urged the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to withdraw his candidacy from the elections of the President and to carry out the will of “beautiful”.
Zhirinovsky explained that the government – “the deadliest drug” and Lukashenko “can’t break away” from her.
On August 9, in Belarus elections of the President. The CEC of the country has registered five candidates: incumbent President of Belarus Lukashenko, Svetlana Tikhanovski, the wife of arrested opposition blogger Sergei Tikhanovski, co-chair of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrei Dmitriev, ex-Deputy Anna Konopacky and the leader of the Belarusian social-democratic party Sergei Cerecere.
Opposition leader Valery Tsepkalo not allowed to the elections due to lack of signatures, he went to Russia together with children, fearing arrest. Another possible competitor to Lukashenko, the former head of “Belgazprombank” Victor Babariko, was arrested on charges of financial crimes. In this regard, on 16 July the headquarters of Babariko and Tsepkalo decided to unite with Tikhanovski.
In Belarus held a protest in support of opposition members.
Russia annexed Crimea after the violent siege of Ukrainian military units and illegal referendum on 16 March 2014. The annexation of Crimea by Russia is not recognised by Ukraine and most countries of the world.
