The women’s tennis Association (WTA) introduced temporary changes to the rating system because of the pause in the tour associated with the pandemic coronavirus.
WTA did not reinvent the wheel and followed the example of ATP.
Thus, the key changes are as follows:
- Instead of the annual rating of the counting will be conducted from March 2019 to December 2020.
- Will count 16 best results in tournaments during this period, but only once for a specific event (best two results).
- Points added to the player rating in 2020, it will be in competition for 52 weeks or until the tournament will be played in 2021.
With regard to the qualification to the Final tournament, the Championship race WTA will include the 16 best results of tennis players in 2020.
