U.S. naval officer accused of passing secret data to the Russians

In the US, a senior officer of the Navy Charles Briggs was accused of passing classified data to a Russian citizen. On 16 July announced the publication of The Virginian-Pilot with reference to the materials of the military court.

According to the investigation, Briggs, who has worked in the field of information and technology at the naval medical center Portsmouth, received a secret information on a government computer at the beginning of January 2019 and handed them over to the citizen of Russia. This information could harm the United States, according to investigators.

Briggs also is charged with two episodes related to possession of child pornography.

At the moment the sailor is under arrest, the next week he will appear before the court.
