The U.S. Ambassador in Seoul Harry Harris decided to get rid of the mustache, which caused criticism on the part of South Korean Internet community. On 25 July, the Embassy posted on Twitter a video of a barbershop where Harris shaved.
He wrote on Twitter that during the period of intense heat and humidity before him stood a choice: either to keep the mustache, or stop wearing the mask.
“Instructions on anti-COVID-19 are important, so I’ll be a man in a mask,” said Harris, adding that he is happy to get rid of the mustache and delight in exploring the local barbershop.
Glad I did this. For me it was either keep the ‘stache or lose the mask. Summer in Seoul is way too hot & humid for both. #COVID guidelines matter & I’m a masked man! Enjoyed getting to know Mr. Oh & appreciated his heartfelt words about how much he values the #USROKAlliance. https://t.co/ja2WMD49Fr
