Tyszkiewicz: In Minsk do not want to sit on the stretch between the West and Russia
Belarus sees China as an alternative to Russian influence. This opinion is a political commentator, an analyst at the Ukrainian Institute of the future Igor Tyszkiewicz expressed his “Facts” in the interview, which was published on 23 June.
The journalist asked him to comment on the actions of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in particular, in relations with the Chinese side.
“First, China is interested in entering this region. Secondly, having a complicated relationship with the United States of America, the infusion of large amounts of USA is unlikely. On the other hand, Belarus sees China as an alternative to Russian influence, because Minsk does not want to sit on the stretch between the West and Russia – they are looking at, including the third, the fourth fulcrum”, – explained Tyszkiewicz.
He believes that China as a “superpower” in fact “will become an additional factor of foreign policy stability in Belarus, to guard against external interference.”
“And when you consider that the United States can influence the processes in the Russian Federation the maximum that will impose sanctions, China is against Russia tools more, without political signals — first of all, people. Second, the money. Third, technology and equipment. Whatever it was, but the exit of Russia on the arms markets of Asia, Africa depends largely on a policy of China,” the observer said.
4 Jun Lukashenko instructed the new composition of the government of Belarus to solve the problem of dependence on the Russian market. “We can’t even brotherly Russia depend on 50-55%. We must diversify the markets”, – said the President of the country.
In December 2019 Lukashenko signed a decree on credit of approximately $501 million (3.5 billion yuan) , China for a period of five years.
