Turkey started the trial on the murder Khashoggi

Today in Istanbul, the Turkish a trial began over 20 citizens of Saudi Arabia, which has been implicated in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. This publication reports the Daily Sabah.

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s office accuses the former Deputy chief of Saudi intelligence and former adviser to crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the incitement to murder Khashoggi. The remaining 18 people are suspected of committing this crime.

If convicted the defendants could face a life sentence, which is in Turkey, the most severe punishment.

The defendants in the criminal case at trial are not present.

Khashoggi was killed on 2 October 2018 after went to Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul to receive the divorce papers.
