Turkish armed forces began anti-terrorist operation in the area Haftanin in Northern Iraq. This June 17, citing the Ministry of national defence of Turkey has informed the state Agency “Anadolu”.
The operation was named Pençe-Kaplan (tiger’s Claw).
With the support of military aircraft, conventional and armed drones, and fire support to special forces of Turkey has entered Iraq “with the aim of neutralizing the militants and other terrorist elements that threaten the security of Turkey”.
In the Ministry of defence of Turkey has underlined that operation “tiger Claw” initiated in response to frequent attempts by militants to attack Turkish police stations and military bases.
“Operation Pençe-Kaplan is part of the legitimate right of Turkey to defend itself, which is derived from international law”, – told in “Anadolu”.
