PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel commented on the victory over Atalanta (2:1) in a match 1/4 finals of the Champions League.
“Imagine how I’d celebrate if I had two healthy legs! Maybe today you would have seen my run on 40 meters. Today is the birthday of the club — he is 50 years old, and this anniversary we’re not gonna forget.
We are very happy. People don’t understand how difficult it is to achieve these goals, let it seems easy with a good team. This is a very big step for all of us.
I felt after facing Borussia Dortmund in the 1/8 finals, we have finally overcome the psychological barrier in the Champions League. Everything around told that we are unable to reach the quarterfinals. We lost the first match in Germany, ahead of the return leg we had a lot of personnel problems. But even playing without an audience in Paris, we managed to turn everything on its head.
It was very difficult to prepare the team. Without matches we didn’t have the rhythm of the game. But in the last days I saw an exceptional team effort, determination, enthusiasm, the quality of training and cohesion. For me this is a deserved victory, but if you score so late, and without luck, was not. I’m the first to admit that we need luck,” said Tuchel.
