Director General of the world trade organization (WTO), Roberto Azevedo, intends to leave his post early. On it informs Agency Bloomberg with reference to informed sources in the leadership of the WTO.
The second term Azevedo on the post of Director-General expires in 2021, however he decided to terminate the contract and leave early, according to sources.
The WTO representative declined to comment to the Agency. Contact Azevedo directly Bloomberg also failed.
62-year-old Brazilian head of the WTO from September 2013. His second term began in 2017.
Acting Director General of the WTO, according to Agency estimates, could become one of four Vice -: Ions Frederick yeah from Nigeria, Karl Brauner from Germany, Alan Wolff from the US and Yi Xiaozhun of China.
Bloomberg notes that the possible departure of Azevedo from his post have be difficult to the WTO. On the one hand, international trade is seriously affected because of the pandemic coronavirus, on the other, stability of the organization was dealt a serious blow when the US, in fact, blocked the work of the appellate body of the WTO.
