The volleyball matches of the European competitions this season will not be played
The administrative Council of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) today decided to cancel the remaining matches of the European cups season 2019-2020, including the Grand final of the Champions League in volleyball, which was scheduled for may 16 in Berlin. Thus, in the Champions League, CEV Cup and Challenge Cup in men’s and women’s winners will not be determined.
As you know, once in March began pandemic coronavirus, the competition stalled. Unfortunately, withdrawal from the leadership of the CEV was not found.
However, no matter what failed to finish the season, CEV will provide more than 80% of the expected prize pool for the teams in the three European cups.
Also cancelled tournaments Gold and Silver Evroligi for the national teams. As for the four European Championships in the age groups (under 18 and under 20 years men up to 17 years and 19 years women) to be held in 2020, they are postponed to a later date. The issue of the qualifiers for the European championship in 2021 for men and women will be made closer to July 1.
The CEV Board has made a commitment to keep the prize Fund of the Cup of Europe 2020-2021 years and has approved an additional support of clubs for the upcoming season.
