The United States will pay Sanofi and GSK 2.1 billion dollars for the vaccine from COVID-19
The US government has concluded with the companies Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline an agreement to provide 100 million doses of vaccine against coronavirus infection. Under the agreement us authorities will be able in the future to buy another 500 million doses, Reuters writes.
For a guaranteed supply of 100 million doses the U.S. government will pay the companies $ 2.1 billion, and a big part of the sum paid to Sanofi. When calculating the per person cost of vaccination (to develop immunity against COVID-19 requires the introduction of two doses of vaccine) will be $ 42. This price is comparable to the cost of the vaccine, Pfizer and BioNTech, over 100 million doses of which the American government paid $ 2 billion (or $ 40 for the vaccination of one person).
It is expected that clinical studies of joint development of Sanofi and GSK will begin in September.
