In the first quarter of 2020 continued reduction in the share of the largest Russian pharmaceutical distributors. The crisis in the market contributed to the increase in the share of only one company – distributor of pharmaceutical products “Irvin 2” significantly increased volume of sales (its share of shipments increased from 1% to 1.8%).
“High demand, as one would expect, had a rather short-term effect, the panic began in late February and March, the peak of the increased demand, and in mid-April, the market has returned to full standard trends of stagnation. The dynamics of the uneven development of different market sectors was maintained, the public sector as a whole grew more rapidly than retail, even though COVID-19” – analysts RNC Pharma. According to the research firm, the share of the largest Russian pharmaceutical distributor continues to decline for the third year in a row.
Thus, the share of the largest a pharmaceutical distributor “Pulse” declined to 15.4% (in the first quarter of 2019, it was 16.2%). The second place ranking RNC Pharma is a PROTEK and its share dropped by nearly 3% – up from 16.1% to 13.4%. In third place is Novosibirsk “quatrain” with a share of 11.8% (instead of 14.5% a year earlier).
Against the background of General decline is the “Irvine 2”. Although the company now occupies a modest 1.8% share in the previous year it was still below 1%. Importantly, this distributor of pharmaceutical products was only one of the TOP 15 who was able to increase its market share despite the challenging environment.
