Early in the morning of July 1, police in the U.S. Seattle took control of the areas in downtown that protesters have declared an “Autonomous zone”. It is reported the Star Tribune.
Policemen in helmets, with batons and rifles, cordoned off the quarter and began systematically to demolish the tents of demonstrators. Police bikes were used as a mobile shield.
Once inside the “Autonomous zones” left protesters, heavy machinery tore down the barricades. The remaining debris was taken to the trucks.
A group of protesters staged a sit-in protest on the roadway, brought in handcuffs. Fenced perimeter with yellow tape along it are armed police.
The police Department said on Twitter that failure to disperse, disobedience and resistance to police and illegal possession of weapons arrested 31 people.
As of 9:25 AM, officers have made a total of 31 arrests for failure to disperse, obstruction, assault, and unlawful weapon possession. Police continue to provide perimeter security for city crews offering services and performing environmental cleanup.
