CNN journalists arrested on 29 may during the live broadcast from Minneapolis (USA), where the murder of an African American George Floyd police are continuing mass protests. It is reported by CNN.
CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez along with a cameraman and photojournalist was arrested around 5 am when they covered the event in Minneapolis on the street South of downtown, next to which earlier during the protests was set on fire the building of the police station.
Jimenez showed police his press card and told the officers that they will go where they are told the law enforcers. But the policeman caught him by the hand, said that the journalist was under arrest and handcuffed him. All this happened live.
The journalist later told that his mother and grandmother watched as he was arrested. According to him, he had no opportunity even to call my family to explain the situation.
An hour later, after the arrest of the journalists were released. The President of CNN Worldwide Jeff Zucker told him that “he made the most important call in his life for him.” It was about the call the mother of the journalist.
Riots in Minneapolis began after the death of the African-American George Floyd, he died may 25 after a tough police detention, one of the officers choked him. The patrol suspected Floyd that he paid with a fake $ 20 bill.
Demonstrators took to the streets and began throwing the police with firecrackers and bottles. During the protests were looted shop, unknown persons set fire to several industrial and commercial buildings. One person was killed. Native of Floyd appealed to the protesters asking them not to allow violence.
