The Libyan government accused the Russian PMC “Wagner” in using chemical weapons

Private military company “Wagner”, which is associated with the Russian leadership used chemical weapons during the fighting in Tripoli. As writes the edition , The Libya Observer, on the 22nd of April, said the Minister of internal Affairs of Libya Fathi Balaga.

“Russian mercenaries from the PMC “Wagner” used nerve gas on the front lines,” said the official.

According to him, several soldiers of the government forces were killed by snipers after poisoning with nerve agent. “This could not be done neither side, except mercenaries from PMC “Wagner,” said Barzaga.

After the overthrow in 2011 of the regime of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi the country has formed a new government, however, in 2014 it split and in Libya, fighting broke out between the two administrations. One of them – the internationally recognized government of national unity (GNU), which controls Tripoli, the second – “tobrucka the government,” the armed forces which is commanded by General Khalifa Haftar.

The military Prosecutor of Libya has issued a warrant for the arrest of the Haftarot.

In February 2020, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Russia controls the conflict in Libya “at the highest level.”

According to media reports, Russian PMCs “Wagner”, associated with the Kremlin, is involved in the fighting on the side of the Haftarot, as well as recruiting new recruits for the forces of General in Syria.
