African American George Floyd died in Minneapolis on may 25 after a tough police detention. Forensic examination confirmed that the death was caused by strangulation (a police officer with his knee pinned Floyd to the asphalt, becoming on his neck). Involved in the arrest of a COP was later charged.
According to us media reports, police officer Derek Chauvin kept a knee on the neck of the detainee during 8 minutes, 46 seconds, including almost three minutes after Floyd stopped moving and talking.
The death of Floyd has provoked mass protests , first in Minneapolis and then in the whole country. They are accompanied by riots and clashes with police, some demonstrators set fire to cars, smashing shop Windows and looting stores.
Authorities in several cities have imposed a curfew in several States to suppress riots mobilized National guard soldiers.
Since the beginning of protests in the United States killed at least 11 people.
