The protests in Minsk were initiated through social networks and messengers from abroad. This opinion was expressed by first Deputy Minister of internal Affairs – the chief of criminal militia Gennady Kazakevich, the TV channel “Belarus 1” on July 29.
“Those unauthorized socio-political events that took place in June and July this year, was initiated within a few hours through social networks and messengers. And they were initiated from abroad. In the future, all the action was picked up, and we had him to react,” said Kazakevich.
He believes that the Internet has become part of political technologies of “color revolutions”.
“We see successively all the action that was spelled out even then: the creation of a mass protest, forcing the situation and so on. In this case, the absolute danger is not themselves communications, and those people who are behind this, organize, direct, attract and artificially create this mass protest and socio-political tension, which actually does not exist”, – said the official.
In June in Belarus before the presidential elections, which are scheduled for August 9, protests against the persecution of opposition politicians. The police detained their members and journalists.
On 19 June President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the authorities foiled a “massive destabilization plan” of the situation in the country. “Masks off certain not only dolls that we had here, but the puppeteers who sit outside of Belarus”, – Lukashenka said.
July 14 at the protests was detained more than 250 people.
The CEC registered five candidates. For the post of the head of state claimed by incumbent President Lukashenko, the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovski, co-Chairman of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrey Dmitriev, ex-Deputy Anna Konopacka and leader of the Belarusian social-democratic party Sergey Cerecer. One of the main opponents of Lukashenka – banker Victor Babariko was taken into custody June 18, a day before the deadline, which is given to collect signatures for the candidate. It was accused of financial crimes. Also, the CEC withdrew from the race diplomat Valery Tsepkalo.
