The European Commission (EC) on July 15, presented a short term plan for the containment and prevention COVID-19. This is stated in the press release, published on the Commission’s website.
The focus of the plan of the EC is paid to the testing and contact tracing of patients, monitoring health status and access to health services. The Commission promises quickly to establish an uninterrupted supply of personal protective equipment, medicines and medical equipment in EU countries.
Public health authorities under the plan will deal with the segmentation of clusters of infections and containment of the outbreak COVID-19.
Separately, the plan outlines support for vulnerable groups (the elderly, the disabled and the poor), as well as the fight with the incidence of seasonal influenza.
“The package of measures designed to counter any possible outbreaks COVID-19. Drawing on the lessons of the past months, we planned to avoid improvisation, to strengthen the readiness on all fronts to ease the path to economic and social reconstruction of EU”, – said Vice-President of the European Commission to promote the European way of life, Margaritis Schinas.
European Commissioner for health and food security of Stella Kyriakides said that the EU fought a long time with a peak of coronavirus.
“We’ve come a long way to combat COVID-19, but the virus is still there. Vigilance, readiness and coordination will prevent flash [coronavirus infection]. Today we call for the active and joint action for the protection of our citizens and will support the state [the EU],” said Kyriakides.
EU leaders took the decision to close the external borders of the pandemic coronavirus March 18. The economies of the countries of the European Union suffered great losses from the cessation of the flow of tourists.
The European Union on 1 July opened the outer border for the residents of 14 countries: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay. Ukraine in this list are not included. In the list of countries which the organization is not allowed, apart from Ukraine, includes the USA and Brazil.
List of countries with which the EU opens its external borders, was planned to be reviewed every two weeks.
