The European Union’s budget for years 2021-2027 provides for the allocation of €12,56 billion under the programme of assistance to the candidate countries before accession. About it it is spoken in the conclusions of the summit of EU leaders, which took place from 17 to 21 July in Brussels.
“The provision for assistance Tool before joining, which will help [the candidate countries] to fulfill the criteria will be €12,56 billion”, – stated in the conclusions.
At the present official candidates for EU membership are Albania, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro, potential candidates – Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A tool to help pre-accession (IPA) provides for the financing of political, economic and legal reforms in the candidate countries to meet the criteria for EU membership.
