The European Union calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to refrain from escalation, and to direct resources to fight the epidemic of the coronavirus. About it it is spoken in the statement of the European external action service from July 13.

“This is a serious violation of the ceasefire underlines the urgent need for the resumption of OSCE monitoring on the spot, as soon as conditions permit,” – said the foreign Ministry of the European Union.
It is emphasized that both parties should use the mechanism of direct communication, provided by the format of negotiations on settlement of Karabakh conflict, held in Minsk.
“The EU calls on the parties to adhere strictly to the ceasefire, to channel all energy and resources to fight the pandemic coronavirus, to resume substantive negotiations under the auspices of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk group and to prepare the population before the onset of the world”, – summarized the authors of the statement.
As a result of the conflict on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan killed four Azerbaijani servicemen.
According to the version of the Azerbaijani side on 12 July, units of the armed forces of Armenia with the aim of seizing positions in the Tovuz direction attempted attack with artillery. The Armenian side claims that the servicemen of the Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to cross the Armenian border in the direction of Tavush and capture the stronghold of the enemy.
13 Jul conflict at the border continued. The Azerbaijani defense Ministry informedthat on the night of the Azerbaijani army attacked enemy strongholds using artillery, mortars and tanks. At the same time, the Armenian defense Ministry reported about “provocative actions” of the Azeri side.
