The ECHR acknowledged illegal blocking of oppositional media in Russia

The decision of the ECHR of 23 June, was published on the court’s website.

According to the court, the blocking of these publications is a violation of the right to freedom of expression and an effective remedy (articles 10 and 13 of the European Convention on human rights).

The ECtHR ruled that the Russian authorities should pay the publishers of those publications – LLC “Flavus”, Garry Kasparov and “Mediafokus” – €10 thousand
