The Czech Republic has expelled two Russian diplomats because of the scandal about the assassination of Czech officials
The Czech government decided to expel two Russian diplomats from the country and gave them 48 hours to leave. This was stated by Prime Minister Andrew Babish, the newspaper notes Denikn.
Babish announced that he took this step because of the case when local media reported that the Czech Republic arrived to the Russian diplomat, who was planning to poison a number of Czech politicians.
The Czech Prime Minister said that the cause of the spread of such information was the internal struggle between employees of the Russian Embassy in Prague.
He noted that the Czech authorities tried to resolve the situation through diplomacy, but the Russian approach to the situation left them no other exit.
April 26, Respekt published an investigationalleging that Prague has arrived the employee of the Russian special services with a diplomatic passport, which with me could be the poison ricin to poison a number of Czech officials, including the mayor of the Czech capital Zdenek Griba and the head of administration of the 6th district of Prague ondřej Kolář.
Kolář was one of the initiators of the Prague dismantling of the monument to Soviet Marshal Ivan Konev and Grzyb – renaming the square in front of the Russian Embassy in honor of slain Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. After the release become the Russian Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic sent a note of protest.
“The Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic categorically rejects such scandalous and false insinuations. Contained in the publication fantasies have absolutely no basis”, – said in a statement.
On April 28 a press-the Secretary the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Zuzana Stihova told reporters that the Russian note is “inappropriate attempt to violate the freedom of the press”, said the Agency České noviny. She said that the Ministry had sent its note to the Russian Embassy, which stated that the Czech Republic will not interfere in the work of journalists, and recalled the Agreement on friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Russia in which both sides pledged not to interfere in the internal Affairs of each other.
