In the Russian side’s proposals in the further development of integration with Belarus was the point of transfer Minsk Russia 95% of powers to the supranational level. At the briefing of July 1, said the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko, says the Agency BelTA.
He noted that such a proposal was made in February 2019 in Sochi. The diplomat said he then called this proposition the “complete “hands up.”
According to Semashko, the transfer of competencies to the supranational level must be “within reasonable limits, without compromising sovereignty.” As a result, the European Union and stressed that at the supranational level there gave only 18%.
The diplomat believes that the tax and customs legislation because of differences in the economy also may not be the same, “they can only be unified”.
Semashko added that neither in Russia, nor in Belarus, no one wants to lose their national sovereignty.
Russia and Belarus more than 20 years, talks about the creation of the Union state. If the parties agree, the economic ties between Moscow and Minsk can be strengthened to the level of the European Union or even Federal States, Russian media reported.
At the end of the 2018 edition of “Moskovsky Komsomolets” wrote that Lukashenko at the talks with Putin agreed to the unification of the legislation of the Russian Federation, the creation of a single Parliament, Cabinet of Ministers and other authorities, the transition to a common symbolism and a common currency.
In April 2019, the then Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that Belarus received from Moscow proposals on further integration with Russia within the Union state.
Lukashenko said that Belarus is not going to be a part of other States, “even brotherly Russia” and that he doesn’t want to go down in history as the last President of Belarus.
According to the Agency Bloomberg, Putin proposed to amend the Constitution by nullification of his presidential terms after Lukashenko refused to create a Federal state.
