The decision to convert the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul from a Museum in the temple may cause its exclusion from the list of world heritage of UNESCO.

Hagia Sophia is located in the historical center of Istanbul, Sultanahmet. In 1453, after the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans converted the Cathedral into a mosque. In 1934 it became a Museum. In 1985 the building was declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
