“Stop the violence”. Tikhanovski appealed to the security forces and his supporters
The oppositional candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski asked the security forces and their supporters to avoid violence. The statement she gave TUT.BY, a version of which was published an appeal in his Telegram.
“I want to ask the police and the troops to remember that they are part of the people. And ask your constituents – prevent provocations, no need to give a reason to use violence to you. I know that the Belarusians to Wake up tomorrow in a new country and hope that tomorrow will be only good news. Please stop the violence,” said Tikhanovski.
She believes that to stop the violence can “first” officers.
August 9, Belarus finished voting in the presidential elections. According to the results of the exit poll, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko was elected for another term, voted for by 79.7% of voters for Tikhanovski is 6.8%. Only ran five candidates.
After the closing of polling stations security forces began to detain people. In Minsk into a fight with them joined the protesters. On the streets, citizens demand: “Lukashenka, go away!”
Tikhanovski said that will not participate in the protests.
The CEC plans to announce the results of the elections on August 14.
