German Siemens Healthineers agreed to acquire the American company Varian Medical Systems for 16.4 billion dollars. The merger formed the largest player in the global market solutions for the treatment of cancer, writes Reuters.
The deal will be the largest for Healthineers after allocation from structure Siemens in 2018. The interim financing the acquisition of Varian will provide Siemens, which retains control of Healthineers. Under the deal, Healthineers buys all the shares of Varian’s 177,5 dollar each, which is 24% higher than the cost of securities of the company on the stock exchange.
Varian is the leader of radiation therapy of malignant tumors, the company occupies approximately 50% of the world market.
