World Championships in athletics in American Oregon rescheduled for July 15-24 in 2022. This decision was taken by the international athletics Federation after the transfer of the Olympic games in Tokyo 2020 to 2021 due to pandemic coronavirus.
Initially the world championship in Oregon was scheduled for 6-15 August 2021, but now postponed to next year to avoid the intersection with the Olympic games.
The new dates are fixed after extensive discussions with stakeholders, including organizers, two major Championships, to be held in July and August, 2022: the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and mnogoserijnom the European Championships in Munich.
The new schedule will prevent direct conflict between any of these major events and will provide the opportunity for athletes to participate in competitions.
In the international athletics season in 2022, all three events will be held within one sport of the summer. First there will be world championship, followed by the Commonwealth Games and European Championships in athletics.
“It will be a Golden time for fans of athletics around the world,” said World Athletics President Sebastian CoE.
