American scientists believe that the warm weather is unlikely to have a positive impact on the rate of spread of the coronavirus.
This is referred to in a letter to members of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States on 7 April, sent to the White house. The text published on the website of the library of the Academy.
In the letter, the scientists note that while conflicting info, does the weather on the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, but this factor is unlikely to be significant, given that immunity to the virus while there are a small number of inhabitants of the planet.
“There is evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is not as efficiently transmitted at a high temperature and humidity environment; however, given the low global immune system, a decrease in transfer efficiency [in warm weather] may not lead to a significant reduction in the rate of spread of the disease without taking major measures in the field of public health,” the letter says.
Scientists have noted that in countries with a sufficiently high temperature, for example, in Iran or Australia, there has been a rapid spread of the virus, so do not expect warm weather in other countries will contribute to the slowdown in the transmission of SARS-CoV-2.
CNN notes that the President of the United States at least three times stated that the onset of heat, the virus will retreat.
“It seems that in April, you know, theoretically, when the weather gets a little warmer, it will magically disappear,” trump said in February at a political rally in new Hampshire. In the same month, in an interview with Fox News , he noted that “in April, presumably [the virus] will die because of the hot weather,” and encouraged “to look forward to this date”.
USA ranks first in the world in the number of cases of coronavirus infection COVID-19 and the second (after Italy) – the number of deaths. As of 9 April in the United States confirmed infection with the coronavirus more than 432 thousand. From infection died 14 817 patients, including 1922 – in recent days, this is a record number since the beginning of the outbreak.
Flash coronavirus infection COVID-19 began in China in December 2019. March 11, the world health organization declared the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. According to data from the American Johns Hopkins University, the total number of infected people in the world exceeded 1.5 million, including more than 339 thousand was cured, and 89 915 died.
