The current President of the “Olympia” from Ljubljana Milan Mandaric, who is known for his old job as President of a number of European clubs, including “nice”, “Charleroi”, “Portsmouth”, “Lester” and “Sheffield Wednesday”, is suspected of money laundering through the implementation of the questionable transfers.
In the Slovenian press publications appeared, who accuses Mandarich and “Olympia” in the implementation of illogical in financial and sports points of view of transfers in the period from 2016 to 2019.
According to journalists, during this time, “Olympia” spent on questionable deals about 3.5 million euros.
For example, transfer of Bosniak Riyadh Kobiler edition TeamSN demonstrates the absurdity of the situation. In February 2018, “Olympia” has acquired Kobiler of “Zrinjski” for 100 thousand euros. At the same time, the Slovenian club for securing the deal paid three different brokerage companies, and the total amount of this payment amounted to 105 thousand euros, that is more than the sum of the transfer itself.
A year stay at Olimpia, Kobiler spent only 12 minutes in official matches, and then left the club as a free agent.
It is unknown what will this investigative journalism, but these episodes gave rise to a real scandal in Slovenian football and questioned the business reputation of the 81-year-old Mandarich.
