Russian human rights activist Dmitrieva was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for pedophilia, the prosecution requested 15

July 22, Petrozavodsk city court issued a verdict in the case against the head of the Karelian branch of “memorial” Yuri Dmitriev, reports the website of the court.

Historian and human rights activist convicted of violent acts of sexual character concerning the juvenile stepdaughter and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

The court also decided to accept Dmitrieva’s innocent in the production of pornography, possession of weapons and indecent assault “in connection with absence in its actions of formulations of these crimes.”

The Prosecutor’s office demanded for the scientist 15 years in prison.

As writes “the Media”, the participants of the support group, gathered outside the court welcomed the words of the lawyer of the verdict with applause.

In December 2016 Dmitrieva was arrested and placed in jail on suspicion of distributing child pornography. In January of 2018 historian was released on his own recognizance. Dmitriev claimed to have photographed a foster daughter naked to monitor its development and report to the guardianship.

The Prosecutor demanded to sentence the human rights activist to nine years in a strict regime colony. 5 April 2018 Petrozavodsk city court had Dmitriyeva justified.

14 June 2018 the Supreme court of Karelia canceled the acquittal, Dmitrieva was detained again. In July 2018 the Imprint of the Russian Federation presented Dmitriev allegations of sexual abuse of adopted daughter by touching her genitals. Dmitriev explained that several times touched the perineum girls, who suffered from enuresis to check the dryness of the clothes, wrote “Novaya Gazeta”.

Dmitriev is known that in 1997 he discovered in the forest Sandarmokh the place of execution and burial of more than 9 thousand people during Stalin’s terror. Supporters of human rights believe that he is being persecuted Karelian security forces over many years of work to restore the memory of the victims of political repression.
