26 June Meshchansky district court of Moscow has sentenced a Russian Director, defendant theater company “the Seventh Studio” by Kirill Serebrennikov to three years probation, said “jellyfish”.

On 22 June the Prosecutor Mikhail Reznichenko asked the government to sentence to six years in prison, and also to award him a penalty of 800 thousand rubles. the Court found the Director guilty of fraud in especially large size, but came to the conclusion that his “correction is possible without the real life”.
The other defendants in the case also received suspended sentences: the former General Director “the Seventh Studio” Yuri Itin to three years probation, and former General producer Alexey Malopolski to two years. A former employee of the Ministry of culture Sofia Apfelbaum, the court appointed a penalty, but released from punishment because of lapse of time.
Proceedings “the Seventh Studio” on the merits lasted from November 2018.
According to the Russian Prosecutor’s office, the defendants in 2011-2014 stole part of the budget allocated by the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation Serebrennikov on financing his creative project “Platform”. The defendants in the case were provided to the Ministry of false financial reports on allegedly performed works, said the Russian Prosecutor General’s office. Initially, the investigators believed that the defendants stole 133 mln (51 mln UAH)allocated in the form of state subsidies, but during the debate , the Prosecutor Reznichenko said that the amount of damage shall be subject to adjustment – in the final charge it was about 129 million rubles (49.8 million UAH).
According to investigators, employees of the “Seventh Studio” cashed out money through fictitious contracts with a nominal firms inflated the cost of the project and appropriated the money, and Apfelbaum, overseeing the work of the Studio from the Ministry of culture, signed the statements without due diligence.
In the case of theft in “the Seventh Studio” was initiated in 2017. It featured six people. Found guilty only former chief accountant Studio Nina Masliaev, she made a deal with the investigation.
