Belebeevsky Zavod “Avtonormal” (BelZAN), part of the RT Capital, a subsidiary of the rostec state Corporation, has commenced production of medical fasteners and components for joint replacement and traumatology. The project implementation cover the requirements of national health care in such products within five years. Thanks to domestic production, the cost of replacements will be reduced by 20%.
At BelZAN will be implemented full-cycle production of components for implants, medical bolts and tools – from design to finished product. Work involving the application of special coatings and sterilization will take on “TREK-e Composite”. In the first phase of the project Belebeevsky Zavod will start a full cycle of cold massive forming of workpieces hip arthroplasty will develop the necessary documentation that certifies the technology of flexible drills. Production of the first batch of workpieces is scheduled for the end of the year.
In 2021 or 2022, the plant will begin development of components of a knee prosthesis, will start production of zirconium pins for dentures, will expand the range of fasteners and tools for the operations of different types of metals. Production will be 100 thousand blanks ball-shaped heads of the implants and 3 million core parts per year.
“According to expert estimates, in the operations of endoprosthesis year require more than 200 thousand Russians. Currently almost all the necessary components are supplied from abroad, the high cost of prostheses and fasteners significantly reduces the accessibility of such operations. The project on the basis of BelZAN is intended to improve the situation generated enough power to meet the needs of the domestic market within five years. Today, the company is already 85% complete with all necessary equipment. Production of components and fasteners in Russia will allow to reduce the cost of prosthetics 20%,” – said the Executive Director of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko.
In the framework of the project on the basis of Tsniichermet Institute named after I. P. Bardin plan to create a testing laboratory for medical materials. Together with the Institute of metallurgy and materials science RAS are planned for the development of new types of steels and alloys for the medical purposes.
