Former US presidential Advisor for national security John Bolton said in an interview to ABC News on June 18 that, in his opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin does not take President Donald Trapm as a “serious enemy”.
Bolton gave an interview a few days before the release of his book, The Room Where It Happened (“the Room where it happened”) in which he described 17 months in the White house.
Putin thinks he can “play on the trump like a fiddle,” said Bolton. He called Putin a smart and tough politician, “who has devoted his life to understanding the strategic position of Russia in the world”. At the same time, tramp, in the words of his former adviser, does not like to read about these issues, or learn about them.
Bolton said that the leaders of Russia, China and North Korea have always sought to hold meetings with trump one by one, without advisers to flatter the President of the United States and manipulate them.
The politician suggested that trump maybe a good businessman when it comes to real estate, but not enough to be President. Putin, according to a former adviser to the US President, sees it and “handle it”.
Lenta.ru reminded that trump and Putin in total met six times, but full-fledged negotiations between them was only once – in July 2018 in Helsinki.
Book Bolton needs to go on sale June 23. Publisher Simon & Schuster said on June 10 that before the release of the book the author within a few months, together with the Council of national security of the United States made changes to it.
16 Jun administration, trump filed a lawsuit against Bolton, demanding to prohibit the printing of his memoirs. The U.S. President threatened the former adviser a”very serious criminal problems” if the book will still be published.
Bolton became an adviser to the US President on national security in April 2018. In September 2019 trump announced that he no longer needs the services of Bolton, as “strongly disagree with many of his proposals,” and asked him to resign. Bolton claims that he asked for resignation.
According to trump, the reason for the resignation was admitted Bolton “very big mistakes” and inability to find a common language with colleagues in the administration.
