Modern Russia has no territorial claims to neighbors, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the statement of Vladimir Putin that former Soviet republics had to withdraw from the Union without the “gifts of the Russian people” in the form of the historical Russian territories. About it reports the UNIAN.
“He [Putin] talked about earlier made a system error in the Constitution [of the USSR], which did not provide for a range of situations and scenarios that would have negative consequences for our state. This is what Putin said. It was just about the mistakes that were made were not thought out in the Constitution,” – said Peskov.
He says that the Russian President didn’t say anything about that outside of Russia there are areas that need to be attached.
Peskov said that Putin was thinking about the mistakes that need to be deleted from the current Constitution. The speaker of the Kremlin emphasized that the amendments to the basic law stipulate the prohibition of alienation of Russian territory.
“Russia has no territorial claims on its neighbors”, – said Peskov.
Putin on air of the program “Moscow. Putin. The Kremlin”, said that when the Soviet Union some republics, included in its composition, “has received a huge amount of Russian land”, and returned them, coming from the USSR. So he justified the necessity of amending the Constitution, which, according to him, necessary to ensure the country’s sovereignty.
