Pandemic coronavirus. Spain was not “patient zero” – a study
Coronavirus came to Spain in February, with “patient zero” in the country. To such conclusion scientists of the Institute of health Carlos III in Madrid, reported the newspaper El País on April 23.
The researchers analyzed the first 28 variants of the coronavirus genome, which was decoded in the country, and found that the infection does not lead to any one person. All Spanish the genomes of coronaviruses belong to the three main virus families: S, G and V.
Scientists have found that the coronaviruses family of S circulating in Spain about the 14th of February, of the family of G – February 18. Coronavirus group S probably came from China to the Netherlands and from there spread all over Europe. Traces of a virus of the family of G was discovered in England and Germany. Geneticist Fernando gonzález candelas has told El País that there were at least 15 different pathways of virus in Spain.
“It’s similar to what happened in other countries such as the US and Iceland, where it was detected multiple virus penetration… “patient Zero” does not exist”, – he said.
First case of coronavirus in Spain was revealed on 1 February – the German tourist who was vacationing on the island of La Gomera, part of Canary Islands archipelago.
