The candidate in presidents of Belarus Anna Konopacka announced on July 26, in Facebook that her and her family received threats.
“Met with the leadership of the staff and the Trustees. Discussed two important issue. The first is how to conduct election campaigning under the circumstances. All agreed that given the threats that arrive in my address to the address of my children and confidants, the decision to refuse carrying out of pickets was correct,” she wrote.
In the opinion of the candidate, “the power concentrated on the suppression of dissent and protest, today it is not able to protect someone other than yourself, what does street campaigning unsafe.”
“Besides the places that the government has determined for terrain, are more suitable for dogs. Therefore, we rely on businesses, there is the opportunity to provide people with the appropriate security. This week sent letters to 50 largest companies in the country.
