Former coach of “Dynamo” and national team of Ukraine Oleg Blokhin called the best match in his coaching career.
Qualifying tournament for the 2006 FIFA world Cup
Turkey – Ukraine – 0:3
“For our team it was very important not to drop a clanger in Istanbul, demonstrating a confident game. Before meeting with Turkey guys approached very seriously, because the result of the match was important for us – because we have been fighting for first place in the group, but also for prestige. In that match our team showed one of his best games in the qualifying round.
That night at the stadium “the Buddha Saracoglu” with mad support of spectators psychologically to play was hard. Nevertheless, we managed a lot, and two goals midway through the first half – another proof. Control of the game in the future was ours, and this, coupled with a goal from Andriy Shevchenko as the curtain allowed to bring the match to win,” said Blokhin.
