Google has released a free app for Android called Read Along, designed to improve reading skills in children. At the moment it is available for download in 180 countries.
The app contains a Read Along collection of stories of different lengths and on different topics and based on them teaching kids how to read and pronounce words. It gives you visual and audio cues. Young reader meets a virtual assistant of Diya with voice recognition that can determine when a student is trying to say the word or phrase, and helps him accordingly.
The initial version of the app was launched in India last year, where it was called “Bolo”. His goal was to help children learn English and Hindi. Currently, the company has launched Read Along worldwide with the additional support of Spanish and Portuguese.
One of the best features of the program is its ability to work offline. You can download stories to read and learning content during the Internet, and then use them offline. You do not even need to log in to the app itself.
Google also States that it does not send personal user data on their servers. You can download the app in Google Play.
