OFFICIALLY. The NHL will release players for the next two Olympics

The NHL and the players Union officially announced the extension of a Collective agreement until the end of season 2025/26, which eliminates the lockout at this time.

Under the agreement, players won the right to participate in the winter Olympic Games in 2022 and 2026. The League will have to take breaks at regular seasons, 2021/22 and 2025/26 that the players could participate in the Olympics.

In 2018 the NHL gave the players the right to compete at the Games.
