FIFA has confirmed the rumors that have previously appeared in the media, that some time after the resumption of football Championships teams may be allowed to make 5 substitutions in a match, not 3 as now.
“The bottom line is that the resumption of the Championships schedule will be tight, which could cause a large number of injuries due to overuse for players.”
“I would like to give the teams the opportunity to make 5 substitutions,” reads a FIFA statement in response to the request of journalists.
The decision about changes in the rules accept not FIFA or UEFA, and IFAB – the international football Board, which regulates the rules.
If the Championships will resume, then IFAB will need to approve a temporary increase in the number of substitutions.
