Novak DJOKOVIC: “so, so sorry”
The leader of the world rankings Novak Djokovic released an official statement in connection with an outbreak of the coronavirus in the tournament, “Adria Tour”.
We will remind, today the Serb confirmed his positive test, and informed contracted Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the Croat Borna Coric and several coaches.
“Everything we’ve done for the past months, came from a pure heart and good intentions. Our tournament was supposed to unite the players and to show solidarity and empathy within the region.
“Adria Tour” was designed in order to help and is already known, and novice tennis players from South-East Europe to compete in while the season has not yet resumed officially because of the situation with coronavirus.
All proceeds should go to needy people, and I’m happy that this idea all came to mind. We organized the tournament in the moment when weakened by the epidemic, and thought all the rules were followed.
Unfortunately, the virus is still not gone anywhere – it’s a new reality in which we need to learn to live and cope with their problems. I hope with time the situation will improve and we can get back to normal life, as it was before the coronavirus.
Apologize deeply for each individual case of disease. I hope they will not entail complications, and all recover quickly.
I’ll be in isolation for 14 days, and 5 days later will pass a re-test,” reads a message on the official website of tennis player.
It was reported earlier that is also infected and the wife Jelena Djokovic.
