The head of the Committee of national teams of the UAF Myron Markevych remembered the events of five years ago, when specialist headed “Dnepr”.
— Myron Bohdanovych, since the final of the Europa League “Dnepr” — “Seville” it’s been five years. There is no feeling that it was only yesterday?
— There are, of course (smiles). Alternate pleasant and unpleasant memories. We could beat Sevilla, but we just lacked a bit of luck. However, the exit in the European Cup final for the Ukrainian team was already a success.
— If I had to play this match again, would you have something changed?
— Hardly. Except that substitutions could play. Unfortunately, in the end we made a few inexcusable mistakes.
— Fatigue is not fatigue, but the concentrations of the guys nearly enough.
— The “Dnepr” was the strongest team you’ve ever worked with as a coach?
— One of the — Yes. It is important that all players behave decently, they were true professionals. I’m not talking about commitment, largely thanks to which “Dnepr” and reached such heights.
Who in that team was a leader on the field?
— In different situations in different ways. About captain Ruslan rotan abilities known to all. Yevhen Konoplyanka has spent the season at a high level. As always with a thirst for combat on the field out Roman Zozulya. New revealed Evgeny Shakhov. Nikola kalinic scoring a lot of goals, and Eugene Seleznev brought “Dnepr” in the Europa League final. Can someone else be missed. And even then there was a strong team. Because you need to take into account that we played on his field. Only in the play-offs in Kiev, the number of viewers began to increase. A special thank you to the fans for the semifinal match against Napoli. Such support has long had not seen.
— At the equator of the group round in the “Dnepr”, which was one point in the asset, few believed?
— Of course. But when the “Dnepr” on the veins got to 1/16 th, I realized that this team can make some noise in Europe. And so it happened.
— Cherish hope at least to repeat this result?
— I would like that very much (laughs).
— You are the first and the only Ukrainian coach, who, at the time of independence of the country led his team to the final of the European Cup. How soon can we see something similar in the performance of the national club?
— Hard to say. In order to achieve high results in Europe, we need a serious financial investment. But given, as it is now in our football things, I think this will not happen tomorrow.
