Medtronic acquires developer of implants for the spine based on artificial intelligence

The company and Medicrea Medtronic, the developer of solutions for spine surgery based on artificial intelligence (AI), predictive modeling and personalized implants, has announced the conclusion of the tender agreement to purchase all of the outstanding shares of Medicrea. Medicrea the acquisition will allow Medtronic to strengthen its position as a leader in the development of innovative technologies and solutions for spine surgery.

The company’s product portfolio Medicrea includes technology that helps surgeons to perform preoperative planning and create a personalized solution for implantation. The decision Medicrea based on predictive modeling and complex algorithms that measure and in digital format rekonstruiruet the spine to its optimum form.

Thanks to the transaction, Medtronic will be the first company able to offer a comprehensive solution that includes the planning of operations on the basis of artificial intelligence, the creation of personalized implants for the spine and robotic surgery.
