May 2020 was the warmest on record – climate scientists

May 2020 became the warmest for all history of observations. About this June 5, said the EU network on monitoring climate change, operating in the framework of “Copernicus”.

At the same time, the report says, temperatures in Europe “ranged from significantly above average in the South-West and North-East of the continent to very much below average in the region extending from Scandinavia to the Balkans and North Black sea coast”.

The service notes that, in General, spring in Europe, the temperature was 0.7 °C above average, while in some parts of Siberia – 10 °C.

In accordance with the data of climatologists, in may 2020, the area of Arctic sea ice was 8% below the average for 1981-2010, which is the fifth lowest in history.
