Lukashenko said that the harvest is more important than elections
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the harvest is more important than voting in the presidential elections. He said this on August 8 during a working visit to Minsk district, informs the website of the President.
With such appeal the President appealed to the Minsk region Governor Alexander Turchin.
“What you have the political situation? The elections are coming. But do not be distracted, on the election of people don’t bother. There is a possibility – let them come to early vote. But to lose a crop for a policy – this is complete idiocy,” – said Lukashenko.
He believes that “farmers are now working days in the field and pay little attention to the election campaign”.
“It is here in Minsk some beer and suck on the bench, then excited, ran about, just sat back, drank. It’s certainly not for peasants”, – explained the President of Belarus.
Early voting for the presidential elections began on 4 August and will continue until tonight. The main vote will take place on August 9.
According to the CEC, voter turnout over the four days of early voting in the presidential elections made up 32.24%.
The main competitors of the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenka – banker Victor Babariko and diplomat Valery Tsepkalo – to participate in the elections was not allowed. Babariko and his son Edward was detained in June on charges of financial fraud, Tsepkalo left the country and is now in Ukraine. In this regard, the headquarters of Babariko and Tsepkalo decided to team up with Svetlana Tikhanovski, wife of the arrested blogger Sergei Tikhanovski.
Just as the head of state claimed five people: Lukashenko, Tikhanovski, co-Chairman of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrey Dmitriev, ex-Deputy of the house of representatives Anna Konopacka and the leader of the party “Belarusian social-democratic Gramada” Sergey Cerecer.
