Lukashenko after the arrest of his rival in the elections of Babariko: Clipped wings thief
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated on June 22 in Brest, that would not solve the political problems in the country by force. Transcript of the speech Lukashenko has published its press-service.
“I always said, I will not allow anyone the power to solve problems that should be solved peacefully, by political means, on the basis of our laws. Always will be”, – said Lukashenko.
He urged not to draw attention to the fact that Belarus “sing along” from abroad.
“Something to do… But if he stole, so that’s okay… If we these thieves over the years of its independence, the wings are not clipped, we have now built oligarchic state and would stand on his knees. Therefore, looking at it calmly and don’t think that someone uses for political purposes. There is no such need in Belarus – to use something for political purposes,” – said Lukashenko.
He urged voters “not to fall into the trap three or four of some charlatans.”
“We are in their country will understand, as it should”, – said the head of state.
The announcement came on the backdrop of the arrest of one of the main opponents of Lukashenko in the presidential election – banker Victor Babariko.
Babariko for 20 years led the “Belgazprombank”, whose shareholders are the Russian “Gazprombank” and “Gazprom”. He left this position in may 2020, when he decided to run for the presidency. On 18 June Babariko and his son was detained.
According to investigators, Babariko was the organizer of the illegal actions of the Bank, tried to influence witnesses, to hide the traces of crimes. General Prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case under part 2 and part 3 of article 285 of the Criminal code of Belarus (creation of a criminal organization or participation in it). The Belarusian KGB claimed that the activities of Babariko involved “puppeteers” from among the “big bosses “Gazprom” and the expenses are not connected with the election campaign in Belarus. The foreign Ministry of Belarus said that the former banker may be involved in money laundering and tax evasion.
Babariko and his son from last week are in the KGB jail. They charged and remanded in custody.
In Belarus is scheduled for August 9th inivory President. Lukashenko, who heads Belarus since 1994, intends to run for another term.
June 19 was the deadline of collecting signatures candidates for the highest office. 22 Jun TUT.BY the Central election Commission of Belarus announced that the required number of signatures (100 thousand) surrendered the initiative group of seven candidates for the presidency. The CEC did not mention the names of the candidates, but, according to the publication, among them is Lukashenka and Babariko. Official information of the CEC has promised to publish after June 30, when the check of the signature.
