In Belarus to restore order with freedom of speech, said July 9 at a meeting with representatives of major media President Alexander Lukashenko. About it informs the website of the head of the Belarusian state.
“You, especially progressive-minded people, felt what freedom of speech: say something wrong – will call worse… Each of you received a portion of the [negativity], one who is not even Lukashenko said a word, but for the state. …Freedom of speech in any country restricted by law. So here we put things in order,” – said Lukashenko.
The President believes that an important factor is the country’s state media, he assured that the number will not be reduced, they will also be given support.
Lukashenka stressed that “the existence of freedom of speech does not imply permissiveness, although some understand, especially with regard to the statements on the Internet”. He drew attention to the personal insults that got in some social networks, the authors of the publications.
In Belarus on 9 August presidential elections will take place. On the eve of voting the authorities stepped up pressure on the opposition. So, one of the main opponents of Lukashenka – banker Victor Babariko was taken into custody June 18, a day before the deadline, which is given to collect signatures for the candidate. Belarusian law enforcers accused him of financial crimes.
