Lukashenka called on the new government to solve the problem of dependence of Belarus from the Russian market
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed the new government to solve the problem of dependence on the Russian market. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.
“No exports, no currency. Moreover, the problem of dependence from the market of one country should be resolved definitively. We can’t even from brotherly Russia depend on 50-55%. We need to diversify markets,” – said Lukashenko.
He reminded that decisions were made about the need for export development in the country and abroad, finding new markets, and in this direction, we need serious progress.
“We need to find forms and tools that will make the whole system of state bodies to provide execution of the main goal is to achieve sustainable balanced economic growth with rates above the world average. There’s no other way”, – he said.
The President also noted that Belarus is an open economy, however, the measures to protect their own market to accept is still necessary. While economic growth should not only be at the expense of the domestic market, but mainly through exports and foreign demand, the President added.

The presidential elections in Belarus will be held on 9 August 2020. Initially, the Belarusian Central election Commission had planned to hold presidential elections on 30 August. Representatives of some political forces believe that holding elections during a pandemic coronavirus “irresponsible and dangerous”, so refused the nomination of their candidates.
Lukashenko is President of Belarus since 1994. In 2020, he also intends to run.
