Britain left behind the peak of the epidemic of the coronavirus. This was at the briefing on 30 April, Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The briefing was broadcast to his Twitter account.
“For the first time today, I can confirm that we have passed the peak of this disease and move downhill,” said Johnson.
According to him, not once during the outbreak, the health system was not in crisis, no patient was denied intensive therapy.
“We escaped uncontrolled and catastrophic epidemic where the possible worst-case scenario envisaged 500,000 deaths”, – said the head of government.
He warned about the risk of re-surge of the infection.
“We kind of went through a huge Alpine tunnel, we can now see ahead the sunlight and pasture. But it is vital that we have not lost control and not bumped with scope for a second, even bigger mountain,” is allegorically expressed Johnson.
The government is ready to ease strict rules of social distancing, but the wearing of masks will remain compulsory, added the Prime Minister.
