A state of emergency in all prefectures of Japan will operate until at least 31 may. On 4 may, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the briefing, which was broadcast on his page in Facebook.
In the seven prefectures of the state of emergency was in force from 7 April, 16 April , the authorities extended it to the entire territory of the country. The term of quarantine had expired on 6 may.
Abe said that the government has no other choice but to extend the emergency measures, since the health sector remains under pressure. “Unfortunately, I had to extend the state of emergency for one month. I’m well aware of my responsibility,” he said.
The number of cases of infection with coronavirus is reduced, but the target levels of reduction have not yet reached, the Premier said. According to him, people should not leave their prefectures and minimize contact.
“I’m not saying that leaving the house is bad, but we need to avoid closed spaces,” – said Abe.
He admitted that next week the government will revise the conditions of quarantine. Also a plan will be developed in the beginning of the school year (in Japan, children go to school in April).
